Happy Birthday To Me!!

It turns out it’s my birthday today and I almost forgot about it! I’m a whole 37 years old and I can’t believe how close to 40 I am! I feel like I’ve achieved quite a lot in life so far but at the same time, there’s still so much I’d love to do and experience with the family.

Would You Let Your Son Wear Nail Polish??

***Warning, rant ahead***

I don’t usually get myself involved with many of the mum/girl groups on Facebook. I’m a member of most groups especially the ones in my area.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions and each of us parent differently, but being a mum to 3 amazing BOYS, I can’t help but go on the defensive. So the question was;

Would you let your son wear nail polish?? Even if their dad wouldn’t accept it, he’s a boy and it’s a girly thing to do?? Is the dad being sexist??

My Post Baby Weightloss Journey

I’m not sure why I’m writing this post as yet because looking at the pics I’ve taken of myself I’ve never felt more ashamed of how I look. I’m usually the type of person that is happy in her skin but since having Arlo I’ve noticed that my weight has started to creep up again. I also like to think I’m quite an active person with walking everywhere and keeping in good health but I’ll be honest, it’s completely gone out of the window. I’m eating crap but I am cutting out the caffeine.

Seeing these pics has been a massive kick up the arse for me and I can’t keep living like this. I still breastfeed Arlo and because of the change in my diet I’ve noticed a change in his sleeping patterns, my sleeping patterns have changed also. I just feel like I’m losing myself and very unhappy with my body at the moment. Thankfully, I have some time to do something about it while we’re all at home. This is quite a personal post for me but I want to be able to share my successes and failures with you.

Arlo’s Bedtime Routine

Anybody that knows me, knows that when I had mason I didn’t really have a bedtime routine as he wasn’t the best sleeper. In fact he barely slept and is still the same now. He can live off next to no sleep, and still doesn’t have a set bedtime. So when I fell pregnant with Arlo, I was determined to establish a really nice bedtime routine for him. After turning 6 months I noticed he wasn’t settling for bedtime, we always had a great bedtime routine and he was slowly knocking himself out of it. Each week his sleeping patterns changed and I’m not sure if it’s from developmental leaps and teething but we were both just so tired.

So a few weeks ago I decided it was time to change our whole bedtime routine and the things we did and I can honestly say it’s definitely helped and has been working for us both. He doesn’t sleep right through but even though he’s teething he still only wakes up twice at the most during the night and I can handle that. So I thought I’d share our bedtime routine with you today, because you never know some of it may work for you too.

To You My Love

We’ve had our fair shares of ups and downs, we’ve loved and we’ve lost and made mistakes along the way, we’ve been together and lived apart but one thing is for sure we keep being pulled back together. It’s been almost 9 years of living on a massive roller coaster, but I don’t think I could share this ride with anyone else but you.

You’re my best friend and we know how to make each other laugh. We always enjoy our time together. You are the biggest dickhead going, but you’re my dickhead, you may piss me off at times and we may argue over the most stupid things but that’s what it’s all about isn’t it?? We have a lot of banter and sometimes I think you love the dog more than me but I can live with that.

Parenting | My Breastfeeding Journey So Far

Bottle or Breast?? There’s always that big debate about how you’re going to feed your new baby when they enter the world. For me I’ve always known I would try to breastfeed again. I tried it with the munchkin but could only do it for 2 weeks. Now, thinking back on that first time I tried breastfeeding I’m not sure if it was because I didn’t get to feed the munchkin straight away as I was still out of it from the general anesthetic following an emergency C-Section or if it was because he was just too hungry and I just didn’t have enough milk for him. I felt like a complete failure, so trying again was a must for me this time.

Even though I had another emergency C-Section with the dream baby I was awake and able to feed him straight away. That very first time I think we nursed for a good hour or so and it felt so good. It’s still very much a learning curve for me and I’m still trying to figure things out but we’ve made it to 5 weeks! We’ve been breastfeeding for 5 whole weeks and I’m so happy with myself.

Welcome To The World My Little One

On Thursday 14th February our lives changed forever at 18:20pm a little boy was born weighing 7lbs 8.5ozs, Arlo Kevin Charlie Phoenix. Many of you have been following me on my pregnancy journey and I just wanted to come on here today to share with you our amazing news and introduce someone very special, I know it’s been just over a week but I needed a little time to recover and we wanted to have some family time with him. Arlo arrived safely and we’re both doing well. Our family is now complete and honestly I’m just in a little bubble of pure love and joy at the moment, I’m soaking up every second of newborn snuggles and just seeing how well the munchkin is adapting to becoming a big brother has made me so proud.
