Would You Let Your Son Wear Nail Polish??

***Warning, rant ahead***

I don’t usually get myself involved with many of the mum/girl groups on Facebook. I’m a member of most groups especially the ones in my area.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions and each of us parent differently, but being a mum to 3 amazing BOYS, I can’t help but go on the defensive. So the question was;

Would you let your son wear nail polish?? Even if their dad wouldn’t accept it, he’s a boy and it’s a girly thing to do?? Is the dad being sexist??

Parenting | Please Don’t Tell My Son’s To Man Up

***Warning, rant ahead***

A lot of people say being a mum to just boys is easy, and I can genuinely see why they would think that, but it’s no easier than it is having all girls or both boys and girls. Being a parent is hard no matter what you have and I just so happen to be blessed with all boys. Being a mum and trying to raise boys is a really hard job especially when you only know how to be a woman, so I try and raise my boys to be polite, kind, caring, respectful and to treat people with respect and because of this the munchkin is quite a sensitive soul.

Easy Recipe Ideas For The Kids To Make – Tortizzas

Do you find it hard to get the kiddies involved with something other than Xbox games or school work? I know I’ve been trying to get them into cooking and baking a little more, especially while we’re at home more and the boredom is slowly setting in, we’ve been starting off with really easy recipes each week. I mean teaching them life skills can’t be bad now can it?

One of the boys favourite recipes to do are Tortizzas. They’re pizzas made with wraps and are just so easy to do, they really enjoy making these and I try to get them to use their imaginations when it comes to toppings.

Arlo’s Bedtime Routine

Anybody that knows me, knows that when I had mason I didn’t really have a bedtime routine as he wasn’t the best sleeper. In fact he barely slept and is still the same now. He can live off next to no sleep, and still doesn’t have a set bedtime. So when I fell pregnant with Arlo, I was determined to establish a really nice bedtime routine for him. After turning 6 months I noticed he wasn’t settling for bedtime, we always had a great bedtime routine and he was slowly knocking himself out of it. Each week his sleeping patterns changed and I’m not sure if it’s from developmental leaps and teething but we were both just so tired.

So a few weeks ago I decided it was time to change our whole bedtime routine and the things we did and I can honestly say it’s definitely helped and has been working for us both. He doesn’t sleep right through but even though he’s teething he still only wakes up twice at the most during the night and I can handle that. So I thought I’d share our bedtime routine with you today, because you never know some of it may work for you too.

My Easy Cheesy Pasta Recipe For The Whole Family // AD

~*This post contains gifted products*~

Living in a busy household with 3 boys certainly has its challenges and honestly who always has time to spend hours preparing and cooking family meals because I know I don’t. For days like this, I’m all about quick, simple and tasty meals that can be whipped up in 15-20 mins and using whatever you have in the house already. These sort of meals usually end up being the best sort of meals. Today’s recipe features one of my staple herbs *Schwartz Garlic Granules.

Now, my boys are a little bit fussy and refuse to eat meals that contain onions, garlic, mushrooms, celery, herbs and spices. But as a parent you still want them to have healthy meals. My boys love my cooking and have no idea what ingredients I use, and if they do decide they’d like to help me out (they rarely do) this mummy has things “ready” for them to use. I love watching them eat knowing I’ve hidden veg and lots of flavours in them. My easy cheesy pasta is a really quick meal and one of the boys favourites.

Breastfeeding & My Mental Health

I’ve always said  I’m one of those people that would like to think that I don’t really suffer with my mental health. I try and keep myself balanced and don’t get me wrong I have over the years had a few bouts but nothing massive. This is quite a long post so please grab a cuppa and make yourself comfy. So I thought I’d talk about Breastfeeding and the effects it can have on your mental health. Now, this is my story and these are my experiences and not everybody is the same. I’m not a professional so please keep any negative comments you may have to yourself.

Let me start at the beginning. When I fell pregnant with Mason way back in 2011 I had decided that I wanted to try and breastfeed, now I did some research, but was still so naive and was hoping for some help and support at the hospital. The time came for me to go into hospital and have my first baby and I’ll admit, that in itself was the most traumatic thing I’ve ever done, it’s still so hazy and I don’t remember a lot of the details but that was because I was so out of it from having to have an emergency C-Section, thankfully my mum knew what I wanted and since I was unable to feed Mason straight away he was given donor breast milk. The midwives asked how I planned to feed the baby when I had recovered and gained consciousness from the C-Section and told me to try feeding him. The first day was a struggle as he wasn’t latching on and we found out it was because he was so poorly so they took him down to the neonatal ward and he stayed there feeding from a tube for a week hooked up to heart monitors and everything.

Review | Philips Avent Natural Baby Bottle

~*This post contains gifted products*~

I was kindly sent this *Philips Avent Natural bottle to try out for review a while ago and I’ll be honest, I wasn’t sure whether I was going to let Arlo try it but I’m so glad I did. I’d tried him with bottles before and he just would not take to them and I think it’s down to him being exclusively breastfed, but with me heading back to work I needed to get him used to having a bottle for ease to the OH and of course my mum so he would feed from them while I was away.

I was expecting Arlo to not take to the bottle but I have to say he really took to this straight away, he didn’t fuss which is what I was expecting he literally took to it like he was feeding from me, and this is exactly what this bottle is about. It helps with a wide range of things inscluding; Natural latch due to the wide breast-shaped teat which makes it easier for baby to combine breast and bottle feeding.

It has unique petals inside the teat increase softness and flexibility without teat collapse. Your baby will enjoy a more comfortable and contented feed. It has an innovative twin valve designed to reduce colic and discomfort by venting air into the bottle and not baby’s tummy. Due to the unique shape, the bottle is easy to hold and grip in any direction for maximum comfort, even for baby’s tiny hands. The Philips Avent Natural bottle is made of BPA-free* material (polypropylene). And the wide bottle neck makes filling and cleaning easy. Only a few parts for quick and simple assembly.

I’m all for a simple package design and of course can we not forget about that cute little unicorn design on the bottle. It was really easy to use and I was so surprised at how easily Arlo latched onto it to have a feed. The only downside for me is that it’s all made from plastic and I think it would have been better if the bottle was glass for mama’s precious milk and the teat was silicone. It would be much more eco friendly and tick a lot more boxes.

Overall I’m really happy with this and really glad that Arlo can feed from it comfortably and happily. It’s the only bottle that he uses to feed from. The Philips Avent Natural bottle is available in 4 sizes: 2 oz/60 ml, 4 oz/125 ml, 9 oz/260 ml and 11 oz/330 ml. Bottles are available in single and multi packs. The one I’ve been using is the 9oz bottle which is big enough for us as he’s mainly breastfed. They also retail for a 2 pack for around £14.50 but you can get them seperatly and of course in bundle sets so it’s worth shopping around.

Do you use a bottle to feed your baby?? Which brand is your favourite??
