Review | Weleda Baby White Mallow Range

If you’ve been following my blog for a while now you’ll know that I’m a big fan of Weleda and their lovely products. I’m slowly trying different products from different ranges and one of our favourites is the Calendula baby range.

Arlo suffers with Eczema quite badly and when he has flare-ups he gets it from head to toe so I have to be really careful with what I pop onto his skin. The *White Mallow range is suitable for Eczema prone skin and have been accepted by the National Eczema Association.

Review | Philips Avent Natural Baby Bottle

~*This post contains gifted products*~

I was kindly sent this *Philips Avent Natural bottle to try out for review a while ago and I’ll be honest, I wasn’t sure whether I was going to let Arlo try it but I’m so glad I did. I’d tried him with bottles before and he just would not take to them and I think it’s down to him being exclusively breastfed, but with me heading back to work I needed to get him used to having a bottle for ease to the OH and of course my mum so he would feed from them while I was away.

I was expecting Arlo to not take to the bottle but I have to say he really took to this straight away, he didn’t fuss which is what I was expecting he literally took to it like he was feeding from me, and this is exactly what this bottle is about. It helps with a wide range of things inscluding; Natural latch due to the wide breast-shaped teat which makes it easier for baby to combine breast and bottle feeding.

It has unique petals inside the teat increase softness and flexibility without teat collapse. Your baby will enjoy a more comfortable and contented feed. It has an innovative twin valve designed to reduce colic and discomfort by venting air into the bottle and not baby’s tummy. Due to the unique shape, the bottle is easy to hold and grip in any direction for maximum comfort, even for baby’s tiny hands. The Philips Avent Natural bottle is made of BPA-free* material (polypropylene). And the wide bottle neck makes filling and cleaning easy. Only a few parts for quick and simple assembly.

I’m all for a simple package design and of course can we not forget about that cute little unicorn design on the bottle. It was really easy to use and I was so surprised at how easily Arlo latched onto it to have a feed. The only downside for me is that it’s all made from plastic and I think it would have been better if the bottle was glass for mama’s precious milk and the teat was silicone. It would be much more eco friendly and tick a lot more boxes.

Overall I’m really happy with this and really glad that Arlo can feed from it comfortably and happily. It’s the only bottle that he uses to feed from. The Philips Avent Natural bottle is available in 4 sizes: 2 oz/60 ml, 4 oz/125 ml, 9 oz/260 ml and 11 oz/330 ml. Bottles are available in single and multi packs. The one I’ve been using is the 9oz bottle which is big enough for us as he’s mainly breastfed. They also retail for a 2 pack for around £14.50 but you can get them seperatly and of course in bundle sets so it’s worth shopping around.

Do you use a bottle to feed your baby?? Which brand is your favourite??

Tuesday’s Tip | DIY Baby Cradle Cap Shampoo & Body Wash

As you know, I love a good DIY especially if I can make something at home for cheaper than it would cost to buy the same product in a shop. So, for today’s tip I want to share with you a really nice baby shampoo and body wash in one. I actually started using this shampoo as a cradle cap treatment and it worked wonders but now I just use it as a body wash and a regular shampoo.

While I was pregnant with Arlo, I had decided that I was going to be a lot more conscious of the products I’d be using on him and if I can make a natural alternative at home then so be it. When he was born I really started thinking about the products we expose our baby’s to from such a young age when we really don’t need too. I had noticed a few weeks back that Arlo started to get a bit of cradle cap so I wanted to find something to treat it before it got worse and that’s when I stumbled upon lots and lots of recipes for cradle cap shampoo’s. It really makes the dream baby’s hair and skin so soft and there’s no need for any lotions or oils after the bath especially when you’ve used this.

Baby Babble | Arlo Is 3 And A Half Months Old

Wow, I can’t believe Arlo is 3 and a half months old already!! Where has the time gone?? It only feels like yesterday that I was writing about my birth story and welcoming Arlo into the world. I was sat thinking about what I was going to write and I realised that I kept you all updated during my pregnancy yet haven’t written much about Arlo and how he’s been getting on now he’s here. If you do follow me on Instagram though, you’ll notice that I’m forever putting up baby spam. I have to say, watching Arlo every day is an absolute joy and I’m really enjoying being a mum so much more this time around. He’s turning into quite the character and is learning new things every day which I love seeing.

Parenting | My Breastfeeding Journey So Far

Bottle or Breast?? There’s always that big debate about how you’re going to feed your new baby when they enter the world. For me I’ve always known I would try to breastfeed again. I tried it with the munchkin but could only do it for 2 weeks. Now, thinking back on that first time I tried breastfeeding I’m not sure if it was because I didn’t get to feed the munchkin straight away as I was still out of it from the general anesthetic following an emergency C-Section or if it was because he was just too hungry and I just didn’t have enough milk for him. I felt like a complete failure, so trying again was a must for me this time.

Even though I had another emergency C-Section with the dream baby I was awake and able to feed him straight away. That very first time I think we nursed for a good hour or so and it felt so good. It’s still very much a learning curve for me and I’m still trying to figure things out but we’ve made it to 5 weeks! We’ve been breastfeeding for 5 whole weeks and I’m so happy with myself.
