During August this year, Bam Bamboo Clothing ran their second Dare To Wear Longer campaign and I was proud to be part of that campaign.
What is the campaign all about??
26% of the carbon emissions are generated by our clothes and throughout their lifecycle are created when you put them in the washing machine. BAM Bamboo Clothing challenged me to try wearing my clothes twice or more before washing to reduce those emissions.
What else can I do to reduce emissions??
Whilst wearing your clothes for longer before washing will help, choosing sustainable materials like bamboo will also help. Washing your clothes on a 30º cycle and of course line drying them will all help to reduce your carbon footprint.
*BAM Bamboo Clothing asked me if I’d like to try a few items of their clothing and of course I said yes. They have such a fantastic range of men’s and women’s clothes.
They’re great for those who lead an active lifestyle whether you go hiking or do yoga. They are sustainable which means they’re great for people who want clothes made more responsibly and that is better for our planet.
I’ve been trying out 3 of their pieces and I love them, they’re so comfy and fit within my style. They wash well and hold their shape. I took these away on our recent weekend away. I chose a size 14 in all of my items and I’d say they’re true to size. If you’d like to get your hands on the items I’ve been trying you can find them here:
My favourite item is the dress. I have managed to get 4 wears out of each item before I’ve had to wash them. I’ve learnt that you don’t need to wash everything straight away. When I take my clothes off now I will hang them on a hanger air them outside for a little while (when it’s not raining). I’ve noticed a massive difference in the amount of washing we now have as a family since I’ve started to do this.
Do you want to reduce your carbon footprint? Would try this method of wearing clothes longer before washing?
