Honest Parenting | Sex After A Baby & Getting That Intimacy Back With Yes! Co // AD

~*This post contains gifted products*~

When you become parents, it doesn’t matter if you’re first time parents or not I think you can become so wrapped up in the new baby and the routines you may have with your other children, that sometimes you forget that you have a partner and often your relationship gets a little bit neglected and I know that you don’t really want to be intimate after having a baby because you’re either tired or your libido takes a serious nosedive and you’re just not feeling it. When I had my first baby I think it took a good 2-3 months before we got intimate with each other and had sex but this time around I can honestly say I have seriously neglected my relationship and just haven’t had any interest in sex at all and I don’t know if that’s because I’m breastfeeding but I feel so much different this time around.

I was contacted by *Yes! Co and asked if I’d like to try a couple of their products since I’m breastfeeding so of course I said Yes!! I mean anything to put the fun back into our relationship and get intimate again, it also gave us that excuse to spend a bit of time together which I think is the hardest part about becoming a parent and we’ve promised to keep spending time together whether it’s nights away or just date nights out just to have some time to bond again with one another. I have heard of the company before and in fact tried out their wonderful Yes Baby conception-friendly lubricant system which I believe will be available again soon, so if you’re trying for a baby then you need to have a look at this.

How does breastfeeding affect your body??

When it comes to breastfeeding, the body dials back oestrogen production as it can interfere with milk production. This can mean new mothers sometimes experience side effects such as vaginal dryness.

Approximately 60% of what goes on the skin can get into the blood stream. YES products have been formulated to be side-effect free and do not contain parabens, glycerin, silicone, hormones, gluten or known skin irritants – in short, safe for women who may be breastfeeding, have suffered a difficult labour, or who quite simply want to use the best and most sensitive intimacy products available.

Taking the form of vaginal lubricants (plant-based and water-based), vaginal moisturisers and cleansing washes, YES Co products are Soil Association certified-organic, 96% plant or water-based and use ingredients like aloe, shea, sunflower oil, bees wax and cocoa to fill in the gaps left by chemical additives. Needless to say, everything has been sustainably sourced and created with zero synthetics or animal testing. Yes, the YES YES Co have succeeding in creating a product that is both organic, kind to skin and paraben-free, as well as passing medical standards – so much so in fact, that they are now recommended on the NHS.

It’s no secret that the body goes through many changes during pregnancy and post-childbirth – particularly the vagina. Yet, no one seems to talk about vaginal dryness despite it being a very common symptom experienced by post-natal women.

Straight after a woman gives birth, her oestrogen levels drop drastically. Oestrogen is responsible for maintaining vaginal moisture and lubrication. Without it, the vagina can become very dry, itchy and uncomfortable.

Why choose YES Products?

YES products are hypoallergenic and certified organic by the Soil Association, which offers reassurance that they are formulated without synthetic ingredients or potential skin irritants that are preferably avoided during pregnancy and post-childbirth. All of our water-based products are also pH matched to the vaginal environment. Maintaining typical vaginal pH may help to protect against bacterial and yeast infections.

Yes OB Plant-Oil based lubricant

This is a really nice plant-oil based alternative to silicone lubricants, it can be used as a massage oil too. If you like to be really adventurous it’s safe to use with silicone toys and it’s formulated to minimise the risk of allergies. This is richly nourishing and provides a really soothing relief especially if you get a little sore during sex. I like that fact that it’s Gynaecologist recommended, however it’s not compatible for use with condoms so great if you’re trying for a baby. You can use it in the bath and because it’s full of lovely natural ingredients it’s really beneficial for your skin so you don’t have to wash it off. It’s really nice to use and is packed full of good stuff like;

Two rich organic butters – cocoa butter and shea butter, which impart smoothness and body;

Two fine emollient oils – sweet almond oil and sunflower oil, both organic, which confer a silky texture and skin moisturising benefits;

A little white organic bees wax, and some Vitamin E which as well as benefiting the skin, acts as a preservative.

It’s available in 3 size; 40ml size £5.99,  80ml size £9.99 and 140ml size £14.99.

It really is a lovely product to use and really does make sex enjoyable. However if this one isn’t for you maybe you could try….

Yes WB Water based lubricant

This is a really nice water based lubricant alternative, and out of the two I think is my favourite. It enhances pleasure and sensitivity, there’s no smell, no taste and it’s definitely not sticky. If you like to be really adventurous it is compatible with natural rubber, latex and polyisoprene condoms and toys. It’s PH balanced for the vagina and rapidly relieves dryness and discomfort. This is intensely hydrating and replenishes natural moisture and it’s the perfect substitute for the body’s own lubrication. It also helps to protect mucus membranes and supports healing if necessary and it leaves skin feeling clean and residue free. I like that fact that it’s Gynaecologist recommended, and you don’t have to worry about any synthetic ingredients that could cause an allergic reaction. It’s really nice to use and is packed full of good stuff like;

Organic Aloe Vera, a renowned skin food;

organic Flax extract which is particularly beneficial for the mucous membranes

three synergistic plant based gums – guar, locust bean and xanthan, all of which contribute to the deep velvety texture

It’s available in 3 size; 50ml size £5.99,  100ml size £9.99 and 150ml size £14.99.

Overall, they are both really nice products to use and I find that I prefer the water based one out of the two. It really does make spending quality time together much more enjoyable. I highly recommend these to any couple looking to try new products. They’re both great for sensitive skin and work a treat if you find sex painful. This fantastic range of intimate products is suitable for all kinds of intimate health issues and really do work. I never really thought I’d have any issues like this before but since using these products I really look forward to spending some time with the OH.

Have you tried any of these products?? What did you think??
