I’ve been looking into subscription boxes for my little munchkin and we’ve tried so many over the years but haven’t found one that we both really enjoy……until now.
We’ve tried craft boxes, toy boxes, book boxes and there just felt like something was missing as much as we enjoy doing them and the activities they felt a little repetitive. Now we love being outdoors and the munchkin loves being in the garden and even helps nanny in her garden, so when I found out that the lovely Anja from Mud & Bloom* was looking for families to try out her subscription box I jumped at the chance!
Mud & Bloom are a fairly new box and have only been going since December 2017. So what are they all about?? It’s a monthly subscription box delivering seasonal nature crafts and gardening activities along with instructions, nature news and games to teach children about the seasons, plants, insects, birds, soil and rainfall.
The boxes have been created for 3-8 year old’s by qualified teachers and support the national curriculum with influence from Forest School, Steiner and Montessori education.
The boxes have been developed with the busy parent in mind, so each box includes everything you need to get started. Most of the craft activities are designed to get children finding and using objects from nature – all can easily be found on a short walk to your garden or local park. You may occasionally need things from your recycling box, such as old jam jars. For the growing activities, you’ll need something to plant in such as an old egg carton, small yogurt pots or small plant pots. A box costs just £11.95 with FREE delivery and if you would like to subscribe for another sibling it’s only £14.95 with enough materials for 2 children. You also have the choice to skip a box if you go on holiday too, which is fantastic as you don’t get this option with a lot of boxes out there.
I received the June box to try and the munchkin absolutely loved it!! We read all the cards and had a good look at everything inside the box and we were raring to go! The instructions are really easy to follow and the activities were really fun. I’ve put these handy cards inside a file so that we can do them again.
The compost is really easy to use, you soak it in some warm water for 10 minutes and then you’re good to go. The seeds we received were Courgettes and Velvet Sunflowers. I love the fact that it’s all organic and he had so much fun planting them.
We also had craft materials to make our own Butterfly Feeder for the garden which he really enjoyed doing and it’s currently hanging from a tree in the back garden, he enjoys watching it to see what butterflies it will attract.
