I’m 5 weeks into Slimming World now, and I weighed in yesterday and I’ve lost another 1.5lbs. Which means I’m only half a pound away from getting a nice half a stone award. I’m so proud of myself for getting this far and I’m really happy with my loss. Since I’m still Breastfeeding I really don’t want to be losing too much too quickly as I’m the kind of person that will put it all back on and more just as fast.
I’d like to say that I’ve stuck to plan 100% but I’d be lying if I did. I’ve not really been restricting myself at all. If I want a takeaway I’ll still have one but it’s just about making sure I’m reaching for the right things in between. So rather than reaching for that chocolate bar or 2 I’m reaching for some fruit instead. I’m still having some chocolate and keeping my syns down each day but I’ve also been trying to make myself some meals to freeze so I have something quick and easy for lunch or for dinner when the OH is working.
I’ve also got a couple of Slimming World recipe books to have a look at and try making meal times more exciting. I’ve kept things pretty basic the past few weeks and have stuck to making Spaghetti Bolognese, Lasagne, lots of salads and Jacket Potatoes. All these are Free on plan and I’ve been adding some extra speed foods in my bolognese and lasagne. I want to try and shake up my dinners and experiment more and see what everyone likes over the next couple of weeks. I’ve not stayed to group either the past 2 weeks as I’ve not been able too but looking forward to sitting in group again next week.
I’ve been making sure I get out more while the rain has been holding out and taking the baby in the pram for longer walks so that’s also helped I think with my losses. I’m so glad I don’t own scales in the house otherwise I think I’d be constantly weighing myself. I’m also trying to get my 10,000 steps in each day. If I do more then it’s a bonus. I’m already starting to feel so much better in myself and i don’t punish myself or feel guilty for having naughty treats.
Food has always been something that I’ve never really been able to control up until now and I feel so much happier thinking about it in a much more positive way. Like I said in my first post it’s not about the weight loss for me, it’s about changing my lifestyle for the better. So far my losses have looked like this:
Week 1 – 2.5lbs
Week 2 – 0.5lbs
Week 3 – 1.5lbs
Week 4 – 0.5lbs
Week 5 – 1.5lbs
Total Loss – 6.5lbs
They’re not massive losses but it’s working for me, I think if I didn’t have my “treat day” once a week or whatever I’d have bigger losses but I’ve already noticed when we take the kiddies out for a meal or whatever I’m choosing better food options than I may have done in the past and I don’t really mind if I don’t have a Mcdonalds or KFC with the others either as Slimming World have some great fakeaway recipes I’d like to try.
I also want to try and use my syns on making nice little desserts for after dinner for not just me to enjoy but the kids too. So I think these next couple of weeks are going to get very interesting. What are your favourite recipes?? What should I give a try??
