Review | Mooncup Menstrual Cup

Menstrual cups, this is not a new thing but I’ve come across them more and more over the past year or two. I never really thought about buying one let alone using one until I became much more conscious about becoming more green and Eco-Friendly.

Who wants to bulk buy sanitary protection each month, stockpiling in different absorbency pads and tampons that really don’t do our environment any good?? Think about how much money we as women spend each month on sanitary protection alone, it’s not cheap getting your period. So I decided that I would look into menstrual cups. After a lot of research I took the plunge and bought myself a Mooncup.

What is a Mooncup??

It’s a menstrual cup, it comes in 2 sizes A and B. You can find out which size you are by looking at their website or looking on the side of the packaging. It’s made from soft medical grade silicone, it won’t dry you out and it’s really comfortable to wear. They’re Vegan and will last you years. These are definitely worth the investment.

The Review

It’s really easy to use, you simply fold it twice, insert it and you’re good to go for up to 8 hours. You simply remove it, rinse it and then reinsert it. I have to admit I had it sitting in my cupboard in the bathroom for a couple of months before I actually took the plunge in using it as I really didn’t know what to expect and was a little scared if I’m completely honest.

It took me a couple of goes to get it in and right but as soon as I did, wow what a life changer! It comes in this handy drawstring bag to store it in. It fits in your bag, it’s really discreet and it sits lower than a tampon. It’s so comfortable that when you have it in you can forget it’s there.

You can use it on nights out, when your swimming and simply just to get on with life. I have never felt so clean and good, since using this little guy I don’t mind having a period at all. I’ve been using mine now for a good 8 months now and I can highly recommended them. They also hold 3 times more than a regular tampon. The Mooncup is also latex-free, hypoallergenic and contains no dyes, perfumes, BPA, phthalates, plastic, bleaches or toxins. The Mooncup menstrual cup is also ideal if you have sensitive skin or allergies.

If you’re looking into something like this then take the plunge and do it. I bought mine in Boots for £21.99, think of the money you will save investing in one of these. Seriously what are you waiting for??

Have you tried a menstrual cup?? What did you think??
